Fresh horizons are needed for fresh ideas and increase. Great insights rarely grow when you’re stuck in the routine of the basic childcare operations. You must get out and see something new, learn something new to stay inspired for the abundance living that is attached to your childcare success lifestyle.
To keep your childcare business thriving one must get out and take business trips that add spice, glamor, excitement, encouragement and information to motivate you to succeed! The key to having a successful trip is to plan for it in advance. The perfect business trip will suddenly appear even more perfect when you’ve put all the pieces together well in advance. To help you travel as a childcare business owner, here are a few tips for planning your divine get-a-way.
Decide To Take 3 Business Trips Per Year- Travel that includes growing your childcare business is a must have. You’ve got to get out and travel at least 3 times per year with your childcare success in mind. The error that I’ve discovered about childcare business owners is their thinking about ONLY ATTENDING EVENTS IN THEIR AREA. This type of thinking won’t infuse you with ideas to be different from the pack. It’s a hard saying but it’s true, Birds of A Feather Flock Together. If you can only attend what’s in your area I’m sure there’s hundreds of other childcare owners that think the same. Therefore that will naturally have you and them(your local competition) thinking the same and looking the same in your marketing and you DON’T WANT THAT! Plan NOW to attend my tour stops or my yearly Build It Big Conference as a business trip that will give you lots of information that will cause you to THINK OUTSIDE OF THE BOX about your childcare business.
Determine How Long You Want Your Trip To Be– Always plan to stay at-least one full day after you’ve handled your business and then travel back early the morning thereafter. This extra time is needed so that you can see new places or other childcare programs when you travel into a new city. Look for kid-friendly museums, plays/shows, restaurants, and all around fun spots for kids. Boy, let me tell ya…this type of adventure will cause your creativity level to go way into infinity!
Settled Your Business Organization, Schedules and Staff- Don’t travel without first settling things within you business first. Be sure to have extra staff on duty during this time. When I travel I always prepare my director 3-7 days in- advance with deposit slips for banking, staff schedules of who’s coming in, where they are to go and who to call in the event of a call out, I provide her with one signed blank check incase of an emergency , $250 petty cash for emergency pick ups and day by day written instructions of my expectations and what to do in the event of an emergency. I also tell her, NOT to try anything new without my approval. Here’s another saying, when the Cat is away the mouse will play. Well, seems like when you leave staff come up with new ideas but to keep your business together until you return, remind them not to switch up or change any of your normal business activities or plans.
Create A Travel Budget- Account for your lodging, flight, meals, spending money and follow up products to purchase as a resource for when you return home. Never go into the presence of an expert and leave out with nothing. Follow up materials are critical to your success. That’s how I have become so successful! I invest in follow-up products to help me implement new strategies and systems so that when I get back home into my childcare business I can apply what I’ve learned more effectively. Every expert that I have ever traveled to learn from will tell you that I’ve purchased every product that they have created.
Begin Packing 2-5 Days In Advance- Don’t wait around until the day before to pack. That’s a dangerous NO-NO. You’ll always forget something if you do. However, preparing yourself in advance will ensure that you have covered all basis.
Record Your Findings- Travel with smart devices to record your trip. I highly recommend your smart phone for video’s, pictures and navigation. Pictures are necessary to help you jog your memory of what you heard and seen that inspires you.
Planning for business trips should always be fun. As a matter of fact you should have a budget to travel yearly. One of my most defining moments in my life and business is the Build It Big Conference. It’s defining because as I research information to help my attendees succeed, I always learn of new ways that I can improve my childcare business as well.
See the Build It Big Conference is the ONLY childcare conference created by a childcare business owner for childcare business owners. NOONE really knows more about what we need than WE DO! The conference is in the month of November of each year. You can get your tickets to attend by clicking here to join me!
